Similar to the Xbox 360 version of the title, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition for PS3 also includes access to eight new characters for play in the game's "Mercenary" mode. The game is set about ten years after the events of the original Resident Evil, and features the original game's character Chris Redfield in the lead role.
